Our bio-solvents derived from renewable resources can provide high performance substitution for acetone, toluene, xylene, methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) xylene, methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK), methylene chloride, N-Methylpyrrolidone (NMP), methyl n-propyl ketone (MPK), mineral spirits and other hazardous petroleum-based solvents. The main ingredient in most Vertec Bio® blended products is ethyl lactate, an ester solvent derived from corn or sugar beets having excellent solvating ability for many resins, pigments, gums, soils, greases, etc. Performance is further enhanced by the addition of co-solvents and/or other proprietary ingredients. As cleaning solvents, they are very effective at removing a wide variety of resinous materials. As a formulating ingredient, ethyl lactate and its blends provide high solvating capacity, thus enabling production of concentrated or high-solids product formulations.

Many of the most hazardous petroleum-based solvents are often less expensive to purchase compared to eco-friendly bio-solvents. However, their actual total cost of use in a manufacturing environment is often overlooked. Volatile petroleum-based solvents often require high loading to overcome losses due to rapid evaporation. VertecBio™ high cleaning performance bio-solvents exhibits lower volatility and slower evaporation rates resulting in significantly reduced usage. In addition, our bio-solvents can substantially reduce expenses associated with specialized shipping, handling and storage. VertecBio™ may be shipped by ground transportation as a DOT (Department of Transportation) non-hazardous liquid. No specialized hazardous liquid storage complications, reduced spill containment concerns, no carbon fees, and no HAZMAT (HAZardous MATerial) removal fees associated with the bio-solvent. VertecBio™ Elsol KTR1
Vertec Bio™ Elsol KTR1 blending and thinning solvent has been specifically designed to replace methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) and other hazardous petroleum-based solvents often used in resinous coatings production and laboratory environments. It is a highly effective solvent for resins such as epoxy, polyurea, polyurethane and other liquid flow coating materials. Vertec Bio™ Elsol KTR1 is free from environmentally hazardous ingredients, completely biodegradable, safer for human exposure and non-carcinogenic.
Vertec Bio™ Elsol KTR1 patented co-blend formulation is highly effective as a blending or thinning solvent exhibiting 20 – 30% greater efficiency in viscosity reduction compared to MEK. This allows for high solids loading capacity with reduced solvent usage while maintaining excellent flow characteristics. Vertec Bio™ Elsol KTR1 also has a slower rate of evaporation and dry time for increased time to apply coatings.
